Shepard Fairey

this man is most definately an idol of mine.

you all know his media-assault-"Andre The Giant"-goes-big-brother image, and how his work has affected politics, social and public thinking/creativity.
but what i think shines about this man above any other artist is his understanding of modern life, and his un-biased outlook on not just america, but the rest of the world.

understanding what one image means, and being able to answer to the people that think your work is an eye sore is something Fairey knows how to handle, and not only project his reasons and intentions well, but also take effect upon people that, as he describes, are "sleep walking through life" that conform to propaganda, that dont care about huge corporate-in-your-face- media, but will gladly point out posters/stickers that are unfamiliar to those that have authorities methods.

he also talks a lot in connection with music, and mainly his admiration for punk, whereby his art shares similar conventions witht the sounds of the genre. both have simple tools and structures to convey wide scale messages, but at the same time, an untamed approach to conveying them to the public eye.

in a nutshell, Fairey has captured issues that some people think are out of their control, and placed them in a questionable state of action.
