k.i.c X bmx

In preparation for uni, me and brad had decided to dedicate a whole day to sorting out our future super-reliable, eco-friendly forms of transport... the BICYCLE.
Mine was a vintage raleigh road-bike in lovely order :) so it's pretty much ready to roll, all it needed was a clean-down and a two new tyres fitted.
Brad's was an old mashup bmx that had no brakes, no working wheels and a long history.
That became the day's main objective.

It was looking to be a big job from the start because after some talking when i arrived at brad's house in the morning, we had decided that we were to take it apart and totally start afresh. A clean-up, clean-down, sand, spray and back together again. A big day was in the making.
We rolled it around to mine and got started, beginning by dismantling every component on it and giving the main frame, forks and handlebars an over-due wash. Many jokes commenced and with the washing of the bike becoming a serious matter, i decided a coned-off area was needed. check the pics. lol
At this point the third member strolled in. Shrig was ready to assist with whatever was asked off him (no homo).
The k.i.c bike team was ready. (hit us up if you need re-sprays and/or re-fixes.. us mans can be on the case offering inflation busting prices!! ..lol)

It was about 1ish now and both bikes had been cleaned. So it was decided to take a short break while they dry, and we headed out to pick up some materials.
Before moving anywhere to far, the first stop was Greggs. Purchases were made and stomachs were satisfied.
Next stop... local diy store. We popped in and had a browse and found a few suitable sprays, however the selection wasn't saying much so it was decided to move on.. after a brief encounter with the rude shop-keeper. pshht, geeeza.
Down the road to.. Halfords. Shirgs wasn't baking the place. Brad wasn't baking the money.
But, they had the supplies so brad purchased some sand paper and some spray while shirgs and i had a look round..
Found some blacked-out pimp wheels for brad's bmx... but he didnt buy :(
Back home and back to work.

Bare hours were spent preparing the bmx for spray and once it was finally ready we struggled to find the best method to do this. As you will see from the pictures we soon found that this was with some bricks stacked in a ruff imitation of a wall. Big moves.
The spraying commenced.
Brad killed it lol. The guy was covering the bike in blotches and uneven patches. The paint was running all over the frame creating streaks and bad texture. Shrig quickly took over.
As we had only started on the handlebars our learning curve was able to increase rapidly, and with experimentation and general flukey-ness(?) a good finish was achieved. We had to keep waiting in between coats so time was taken up by episodes of Friends, musical magic on various forms of instruments courtesy of shirgs and I, internet browsing and beat-making.
It was getting late now and rain was looking imminent, i.e. the un-musically related improvisation of setting up the sheet over my garage doors so that we could continue spraying.
The colours were coming out real nice and brad had been smiling for hours. His bike was based on the Supreme Blue/Black chukka. Twas a big look.

Everyone was getting bare tired and fed-up by now and it did not help that the paint was not drying properly. We finished the final coats just as other team members shaun and matthew rolled up. They were looking impressed with the finished product but still.. bare jokes were made. Mostly about the size of the bike. Peeps were saying it was a kids frame. Brad was getting defensive and more jokes were made. It was all in good spirit though, so everyone played a final helping hand in putting the finishing touches on the paint-job and the putting together of the bike.
It was placed in shrig's car and taken to brad's where he intends to finish the project when he gets some wheels.
Everyone eventually came back to mine where Monopoly Round 3 was rumored to be on the tables. This was infact true and it began around 11ish after food and a crank.
It may get posted.. but the outcome was a little to raw this time.
Just remember.. don't worry about rk. ;) lol.

A good team project.
A good team day. .Some mans were just tired towards the end.
Word guys.
